Computed Tomography (CT) Scans

CT (computed tomography), also called a CAT scan, uses x-ray and computer equipment to produce cross-sectional images from body tissues and organs. CT imaging is useful because it can show several types of tissue, such as lung, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels. Doctors use CT scans to diagnose diseases and measure the extent of injuries. Our state-of-the-art Siemens 64-slice CT scanner at Stonewall Memorial Hospital allows us to scan faster with less radiation. Click Here for more information on CTs and CT exams.

CT scans are fast, painless and noninvasive. They also generate the most accurate images of internal tissues. While X-rays take pictures of bone, CT scans can pick up on softer tissues like muscles, ligaments, blood vessels and vital organs. The CT scanner at Stonewall Memorial Hospital completes 64 slices, which saves time and allows the machine to use less radiation.

Please visit this CT study for more information about additional uses, how the machine works and potential risks and benefits associated with the procedure.

X-Ray Facilities

An x-ray creates images of your internal organs and bones to help diagnose conditions or injuries in your body and is captured on a special device to produce the image.

X-rays are best at generating photos of high-density tissue, which makes them useful for detecting fractures, breaks and damage to the bone that may result from trauma to the body.

Stonewall Memorial Hospital uses the latest X-ray technology to help the Radiologist diagnose injuries and chronic diseases relating to the skeletal system. Our facilities contain digital X-ray machines that simplify the procedure, which make for quicker exams. We have a portable X-ray machine that our Radiologic Technologists can use bedside as part of our inpatient services. We also have a mobile X-ray machine that our Radiologic Technologist can use to provide quality X-rays in local clinics and nursing homes. Click here for more information on x-rays and x-ray exams.

Our Modern Ultrasound Technology

Diagnostic Medical sonography (aka ultrasound) involves the use of high-frequency sound waves using a probe and gel to provide anatomical and pathological images for interpretation by a Radiologist. Ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation and is safe, painless, and non-invasive.

Our hospital is well-equipped to handle most ultrasound procedures. We have two ultrasound machines that allow us to fulfill ultrasound orders locally and for residents in the greater Aspermont, TX area. Click here for more information on ultrasound and specific ultrasound exams.
